This position is responsible for cold and hot food preparation in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. This position is also responsible for stocking, serving, cleaning and clearing employee cafeteria tables by removing and sorting dirty plates, glasses, silverware, and condiments. Essential tasks and responsibilities: 1. Responsible for prep work and works in other areas in the kitchen as needed- fulfilling restaurant, bar and event needs 2. Prep work includes knife work and use of small kitchen equipment 3. May be required to work on pastry production for the restaurant – fulfilling restaurant, coffee bar and event needs 4. Assist in cooking and preparing sauces, vegetables, meat, fish, and poultry items properly 5. Assist in the preparation of food, such as washing, peeling, scraping, cutting vegetables and fruits 6. Prepare specialty foods such as pizzas, fish and chips, sandwiches, and fries that require short preparation times 7. Responsible for serving food in employee cafeteria 8. Maintain the stock supplies: food, utensils, serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars 9. Ensure all food orders are completed properly (i.e. proper serving method and correct portion size) and in an efficient manner 10. Organize and maintain stock rooms and walk-in coolers 11. At the end of the shift, prepare for the next shift by cleaning the line and returning all food items to designated storage areas - cover and date all perishable items 12. Follows cleaning checklist, which includes sweeping, mopping, recycling and emptying trash cans 13. Other duties as assigned to the culinary department
